A smile is not judged tooth by tooth. It is judged against the face around it: the line of the lip, the midline of the nose, the width of the smile when you actually laugh. That is what is designed here, and the teeth follow from it.

Digital Smile Design puts that on a screen before it goes in your mouth. You see the proposal, you say what you think of it, and it changes — which is a far better conversation to have at that stage than after the ceramic is bonded.

Then you wear it. A mock-up of the design is fitted over your own teeth so you can eat with it, speak with it and photograph it. Nothing is prepared until you have lived in the result for a while.
